Year 3 made papyrus paper this week in their Art lesson. The class learnt that Ancient Egyptians began writing hieroglyphics on stone and rock, but developed papyrus paper as it easier to transport. Did you know, papyrus paper is made from the stem of the papyrus plant which Ancient Egyptians grew in the River Nile? The stem was trimmed, dried, flattened and finally woven to make papyrus paper!
