Year 6 (Miss Mather’s maths group) have been learning about ratio this week. We have used the terminology “for every” to describe the comparison of amounts within a ratio and discussed how this compares to how we describe fractions (as parts of a whole). We used this knowledge to increase the size of our flapjack recipe, keeping the ratio the same as the original recipe. We also considered the ratio of fruits that would be included in our fruit salad. We practised using sharp knives safely to chop fruit, using the “bridge grip”. It was definitely the yummiest maths lesson of the year so far!
