Physical Education plays a vital role in promoting healthy lifestyles, teamwork and confidence and is an important curriculum area at Holy Trinity.
Each week, all pupils are taught by our specialist sports coach, Mr Aaron, who delivers high-quality, engaging lessons designed to develop skills, fitness and a love of sport. Through structured and progressive teaching, children learn the rules, techniques and strategies of a wide range of activities.
Throughout the year, pupils take part in:
Invasion and net games such as basketball, netball and football
Dance and gymnastics
Team-building and cooperative activities
During the summer term, the focus shifts towards athletics, fitness and striking and fielding games such as rounders and cricket.
P.E. Curriculum Overview and weekly timetables
Building Skills Year by Year
Each year group has a clearly identified key skill focus. This ensures that pupils build on prior learning and develop their physical competence progressively as they move through the school. Skills such as coordination, balance, agility and teamwork are revisited and strengthened year on year.
Our P.E. curriculum not only develops physical ability but also encourages resilience, fair play, respect and determination.
Swimming
In Key Stage 2, pupils take part in swimming lessons at a local leisure centre. These sessions help children develop confidence in the water, learn essential water safety skills and work towards meeting national curriculum swimming expectations.
